Faith-inspired movements, especially Islamic ones, can be very different from the social movements that sociologists and political scientists have previously analyzed.
So, in order to avoid reductionism, studying such faith-inspired movements requires a focus shift from social movement researchers who are accustomed to examining the protest movements and political understanding of Europe or North America.
