East and West Encounters: The Gulen Movement

East and West Encounters: The Gulen MovementThe International Conference on "East and West Encounters: The Gulen Movement" will be held on December 4-6, 2009 at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA. This follows previous conferences on the Gulen Movement held at Georgetown University (2008), the House of Lords & London School of Economics (2007), University of Oklahoma (2006) and Rice University (2005).

While globalization has lead to the shrinking of our world and the merging of East and West, it has also presented new challenges for all. The volunteer movement inspired by Gulen has organized dialogue opportunities to avoid religious conflict, educational institutions to fight ignorance and charity organizations and business associations to defeat poverty. It provides a unique opportunity for discussion on these global challenges and on their solutions. This conference will examine these issues from the perspective of the Gulen Movement, and in particular, explore the impact of a Muslim movement on the new world stage.

The coverage of the conference will be publicized on the conference web page: www.gulenconference.net.
